According to a survey released by the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), 82% of Brazilians choose to conduct their banking transactions through digital channels, specifically using mobile phones and online banking. Among these, mobile banking accounts for 75% of all transactions.
Zhongjin learned that this survey, the "2025 Febraban Banking Technology Survey" conducted by Deloitte, was published on June 11th based on relevant statistical data from 2024. Febraban stated, "Digital channels have become the primary means of financial transactions. Mobile banking, in particular, saw 155 billion transactions in 2024, an increase of 20 billion transactions from 2023, representing a 15% growth."
The survey also revealed that in 2024, the volume of Pix instant transfers completed via mobile devices reached nearly 25 billion transactions, marking a 41% increase from the previous year. On average, each bank account holder conducted 55 Pix transactions per month through their mobile phones.
Rodrigo Mulinari, the technical research lead at Febraban, emphasized, "Mobile phones are fundamentally changing the way we interact with banking institutions, and the volume of transfer transactions conducted through mobile banking continues to grow rapidly each year. Convenience, accessibility, and operational security (such as advanced encryption and biometric authentication) are driving this trend."
The survey also pointed out that traditional offline banking transfer methods through physical channels (such as bank branches, ATMs, etc.) have been steadily declining, accounting for only 5% of total banking transfer transactions. In 2024, transactions completed at bank branches totaled 3.6 billion, reflecting a 14% decrease from the previous year.
