On the evening of June 10th, the Brazilian national football team secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup by defeating the Paraguayan national football team 1-0 at the Itaquerão Stadium in São Paulo. This victory marked the first win for Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti since taking charge of the Brazilian national team. The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States in North America.

With this home victory, Brazil accumulated 25 points in the South American World Cup qualifiers, rising to third place in the standings. Despite two rounds remaining in the qualifiers, Brazil has ensured they will not miss out on advancement, successfully earning their ticket to the 2026 World Cup.

In the previous match, Ancelotti's Brazil played a goalless draw against Ecuador, a result that was disappointing. Facing the resilient Paraguay team, Ancelotti made tactical adjustments by adopting a more attacking formation, fielding only two midfielders and four forwards.

This new strategy proved to be highly effective. Right from the start of the game, Brazil took the initiative, applied pressure, and continuously created scoring opportunities. In the 43rd minute just before the end of the first half, Raphinha made a swift run down the right wing, with Kunya quickly intercepting and crossing the ball, leading to Vinicius Junior calmly slotting in the goal to break the deadlock.

In the second half, Brazil continued their dominance, having chances to extend their lead, but Paraguay held their ground, resisting Brazil's attacks, and the match concluded with a 1-0 victory for Brazil.
