In 2025, the total expenditure of foreign tourists in Brazil reached $7.9 billion, marking the highest level since the start of this statistical series in 1995. This data was released by the Central Bank of Brazil on January 26, 2026, indicating a 7.1% increase in foreign tourists' expenditures in Brazil compared to 2024.

2025 stood out as the best year in Brazil's international tourism history, with over 9 million foreign tourists arriving in Brazil, compared to 6.7 million in 2024. These statistics are sourced from the Brazilian Tourism Board (Embratur).

This achievement not only exceeded the federal government's target of 6.9 million foreign tourists for 2025 but also surpassed the official expectations for international visitors in 2027 (8.1 million).

However, compared to some globally renowned attractions, the number of foreign tourists hosted in Brazil remains at a relatively level or slightly lower. For instance, in 2025, the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, welcomed over 90 million visitors, as reported by the museum itself.

In terms of regional distribution, the primary destination for foreign tourists entering Brazil in 2025 was the state of Sao Paulo, which received 2.5 million international visitors from January to November. This was followed by the state of Rio de Janeiro (2 million visitors), Rio Grande do Sul (1.4 million visitors), Parana (958,000 visitors), and Santa Catarina (651,000 visitors).
