
Despite high tariffs imposed by U.S. President Trump on some Brazilian products exported to the United States, Goias state achieved a remarkable 57% increase in exports to the U.S. market in 2025, making it one of the Brazilian states with the largest export growth to the United States. However, China continued its strong performance in recent years, importing nearly nine times more from Goias state compared to the United States.
The strong growth in exports to the two major trading partners, China and the United States, was a key factor in Goias state's outstanding trade performance last year. According to statistics, exports from Goias state in 2025 increased by 8.9% year-on-year, reaching $13.4 billion, accounting for 3.9% of Brazil's total exports and ranking eighth among states in terms of export value nationwide. These figures are from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) under the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC) of Brazil.
On the other hand, imports to Goias state in 2025 amounted to $5.4 billion, a 4.4% year-on-year decrease, representing 1.9% of the country's total imports. Overall, the total foreign trade of Goias state (exports + imports) reached $18.8 billion, a 4.7% year-on-year increase.
Despite the significant growth in exports to the United States, China maintained its position as the largest export destination for Goias state by a significant margin. Exports to China increased by 8.5% year-on-year, totaling $5.8 billion, accounting for 43.4% of the state's total exports in 2025. Similar to the situation in 2024, the foreign trade structure of Goias state remained relatively stable.
