According to data from the Santos Port Authority (APS) in Brazil, the cargo throughput at Santos Port reached 16.5 million tons in September 2025, setting a new historical record. The cumulative throughput from January to September amounted to 138.7 million tons, also breaking previous records for the same period in past years. The port excelled in container throughput in September, reaching 515,700 standard containers (TEU), a 6.6% increase compared to the previous month; the total annual throughput reached 4.37 million TEUs, reflecting a 7.8% year-on-year growth.

Anderson Pomini, the Director of the Santos Port Authority, stated, "Santos Port, as Brazil's most important import and export logistics hub, has once again set a record, indicating the need for increased focus on the future. Therefore, Santos Port is advancing multiple infrastructure projects, including port area expansion, channel deepening, privatization tender for Tecon Terminal 10, peripheral road construction, and the Santos to Guarujá tunnel undersea project."

Despite a decrease in the volume of solid bulk cargo (such as grains), Santos Port continues to break records due to its multifunctional nature. The main imports and exports and throughput in September were as follows: 2.85 million tons of sugar, 2.61 million tons of corn, and 2.05 million tons of soybeans and soybean products.

Compared to the same period last year, only soybean products showed significant growth, increasing by 81.6%; sugar and corn decreased by 4.9% and 21% respectively. Overall cargo throughput increased by 3.7% compared to the same period last year.

In terms of cumulative throughput from January to September, there was a 0.9% year-on-year growth. Among these, soybean products continued to lead, growing by 9.9% year-on-year, reaching 38.82 million tons; sugar amounted to 17.09 million tons, declining by 17.8% year-on-year; corn reached 7.6 million tons, decreasing by 14.5% year-on-year; and fertilizer products amounted to 5.62 million tons, declining by 4.1% year-on-year.
