According to data released by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Anfavea) in Brazil on October 8th, the country's domestic automobile production in September this year reached 243,400 units, a 5.8% increase compared to the 230,000 units produced during the same period last year, but a 1.5% decrease from the 247,000 units produced in August.
In the first nine months of 2025, Brazil's total automobile production accumulated to 1.986 million units, marking a 6.0% year-on-year increase.
Regarding domestic sales, the number of new vehicles registered in September this year was 243,200 units, a 7.9% increase from August's 225,400 units, and a 2.9% growth compared to September 2024's 236,300 units. From January to August 2025, cumulative new vehicle sales in the Brazilian domestic market reached 1.91 million units, representing a 2.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024 (1.859 million units).
In terms of exports, approximately 52,500 units were exported in September this year, an 8% decrease from the 57,100 units exported in August but a 26.2% increase from the 41,600 units exported in September 2024. Cumulative exports for the first nine months of 2025 reached 430,800 units, showing a 51.6% year-on-year growth compared to the same period in 2024 (284,200 units).
In the segment market performance, for passenger vehicles in September, there were 178,600 units registered, a 3.6% month-on-month increase and a 4% year-on-year increase; light commercial vehicle registrations amounted to 52,900 units, a 24.7% month-on-month increase and a 3.4% year-on-year increase; truck registrations totaled 9,800 units, a 9.9% month-on-month increase but a 14.5% year-on-year decrease; bus and coach registrations were 1,954 units, showing a 13.6% month-on-month increase but a 2.5% year-on-year decrease.
