On August 30, 2025, the 48th Brazil International Agricultural Fair (Expointer) grandly opened at the Assis Brasil State Exhibition Park in Esteio, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The exhibition will continue until September 7.
According to the official Expointer website, Expointer is one of the largest outdoor agricultural fairs in Latin America. During the opening weekend (August 30 and 31), it welcomed a total of 258,940 visitors, setting a new record for the highest number of visitors in the first two days since official records began in 2015. On the opening day, the Assis Brasil State Exhibition Park received 119,539 visitors, also breaking the historical record for the highest attendance on the first day of the fair.
The number of animals exhibited at this year's fair has also reached a new high, totaling 6,696 animals, including both free-range and captive animals. The number of exhibitors reached a historic high, with 456 companies participating. Compared to last year, sales during the first weekend of the fair increased from 2,252,141.87 reais to 3,049,992.75 reais, a growth of 35.43%.
The nine-day fair features a diverse range of activities, including handicraft displays, entertainment performances, children's educational activities, animal displays and competitions, amusement parks, lectures, and workshops.
In the Flor Gaúcha exhibition area managed by the Aflori Flower Association of Rio Grande do Sul, visitors can admire or purchase various flowers. Flower growers from seven cities showcase their floral creations.
Truck driver Marcelo Adriano da Silva and his wife from Taquari attended the fair. He mentioned, "This is our eighth time attending this fair, and these orchids are very beautiful." He noted that this year's event was better organized, saying, "Compared to last year, our wait time in line to enter was shorter."
In front of the spherical building of Expointer is the "Traffic School" exhibition area of the State Police Highway Command Headquarters, aimed at children aged 3 and above to educate them about traffic rules and signs. Soldier Paula Ferreira stated, "Everything is very interesting. When walking (on the road), they must follow traffic lights. Children can ride bicycles, tricycles, or strollers into the exhibition area and play for about 10 minutes each round."
