Brazil will provide free electronic visas for foreign representatives attending the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30). The conference will take place in Belém, the capital of the state of Pará, in November, with the aim of simplifying the entry procedures for participants.

According to Zhongjin, attendees requiring visas to enter Brazil can apply for electronic visas online without the need to visit a Brazilian consulate abroad. Previously, electronic visas were only available to citizens of the United States, Canada, and Australia.

The Secretariat of the COP30 in Brazil stated that this initiative reflects the Brazilian government's commitment to ensuring smooth entry for representatives from all countries attending the conference, enabling participants to efficiently enter Brazil and benefit from the free visa service.

To apply for an electronic visa, attendees must have received a confirmation letter to attend COP30 issued by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). All certified individuals can apply for a Brazilian electronic visa free of charge.

It is recommended to submit the electronic visa application immediately upon receiving the confirmation letter. The deadline for applications is November 10, and visas are expected to be processed within 10 working days.

The electronic visa is valid until December 31, 2025, allowing holders to enter Brazil multiple times within the validity period. Upon entry, individuals must present either the electronic or printed version of the visa document. Foreign applicants under 18 years of age still need to apply for a paper visa at a Brazilian consulate.
