Prior to the event, representatives of 99Food also met with São Paulo Deputy Governor Félix Ramuth.
Bruno Rossi, General Manager of 99 in Brazil, stated that the service aims to address user dissatisfaction with meal prices due to high commissions charged by existing food delivery platforms. A survey commissioned by the Locomotiva Institute and the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) revealed that 63% of consumers have abandoned ordering through food delivery apps due to pricing issues. The survey also indicated that 94% of consumers and 81% of restaurants believe that if food delivery platforms do not charge high commissions, the prices of meals delivered through the app will be lower. 92% of consumers stated that if there were food delivery apps that did not charge commissions to restaurants, they would use the app more frequently to order food.
