Ningbo-Zhoushan Port welcomes its first new route of 2026, as the Australian route's inaugural vessel, the "Mediterranean Genoa," docks at the Qushan Port area. The vessel is loading 2,000 standard containers in Ningbo, including electronics, chemical products, and daily necessities. The inaugural vessel is scheduled to depart on January 9th and is expected to arrive directly at the Port of Brisbane in Australia after a 14-day voyage.
The new route, named the KANGAROO Line, is operated by the Mediterranean Shipping Company and directly connects key Chinese ports such as Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, with the hub ports of Brisbane and Sydney in Australia, precisely aligning with the Chinese New Year stockpiling peak. Zhang Guanghao, Deputy Manager of the Outward Department of China Ningbo Shipping Agency Co., Ltd., stated that the new route is expected to deploy seven international vessels with a capacity of 4,000 standard containers, operating on a weekly schedule to better meet the needs of customers in Ningbo and surrounding markets.
To ensure the smooth opening of the first route of 2026, Ningbo Customs leverages smart customs construction to reduce waiting times before vessel operations and save clearance costs. Currently, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has over 300 routes, connecting to over 700 ports in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, with its port connectivity index consistently ranking second globally.
