According to the information released by the Guangzhou Port Authority, in 2025, the cargo throughput of Guangzhou Port exceeded 696 million tons, with a container throughput of 28 million standard containers. Foreign trade containers accounted for over 50%.

In 2025, the foreign trade cargo throughput of Guangzhou Port increased by 10.73% year-on-year, with the foreign trade container throughput rising by nearly 20%, ranking among the top in growth rates among coastal ports in mainland China.

Since 2025, Guangzhou Port has actively expanded its global shipping network, increased efforts to open up routes in regions such as Southeast Asia and South America, and added 10 new foreign trade routes. The direct shipping route from Nansha to the West Coast of South America was inaugurated for the first time. Currently, 182 foreign trade liner routes have been established, including 152 routes under the "Belt and Road" initiative and 98 routes covering countries in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The route network covers traditional trade zones in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa, continually extending to countries participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative and emerging markets.

Guangzhou Port has established close shipping connections with over 400 ports in more than 100 countries and regions globally. It has formed partnerships with the top ten global shipping companies, and has friendly relationships with 60 international ports, ranking first in terms of the number of friendly ports among mainland ports.

The Guangzhou Port Area has developed multiple industrial clusters, including automotive manufacturing, offshore engineering equipment, petrochemicals, cold chain logistics, and grain. Sha Zi Island has become one of the largest automotive roll-on/roll-off terminal clusters in mainland China, with an annual capacity to handle over 3 million vehicles. In 2025, the port completed the throughput of 1.5032 million vehicles, with 553,000 vehicles for foreign trade exports, showing a 37.6% year-on-year increase.
