According to Zhongjin, a letter addressed to former U.S. President Donald Trump, published by Somali media on the 29th, reveals that Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has expressed willingness to hand over the "exclusive control" of this African country's airbases and strategic ports to the United States.

In the letter dated March 16th, Mohamud wrote, "At a time of evolving global dynamics, we see new opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation. This collaboration is in the interest of both countries and contributes to maintaining security in the Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea, and the wider region."

The head of state stated, "To this end, Somalia is willing to provide the United States with exclusive control over the airbases in Baledogle (south) and Berbera (north), as well as the ports in Berbera and Bosaso (north)."

Mohamud emphasized, "These strategically located facilities offer the United States an opportunity to enhance its engagement in the region, ensuring unimpeded military and logistical access and deterring external competitors from establishing a presence in this crucial corridor."

However, the assets mentioned—the Berbera port and airbase in the self-declared Somaliland region, as well as the Bosaso port and airbase in the self-declared Puntland region—are not under the control of the Somali government.

The Somali government considers all these locations to be part of its sovereign territory. At the end of the letter, the Somali government expressed readiness to engage in dialogue regarding the subsequent steps.
