Brazil will auction a 92.5-kilogram emerald with a starting price of 100 million reais. This gemstone originates from the Serra da Carnaíba region in the semi-arid area of Bahia and will be auctioned online by the Bid Leilão company.

According to Zhong Jin's understanding, this gemstone is an emerald matrix containing a large number of hexagonal emerald crystals, with most crystals well-preserved. It measures 68 cm x 43 cm x 40 cm and comes from the Serra da Carnaíba region, with the specific city yet to be disclosed.

Named "Pequena Notável" (The Remarkable Little One), this emerald pays tribute to the Portuguese-Brazilian national treasure artist Carmen Miranda. Similar to the artist, this gemstone is compact but holds a wealth of precious crystals.

The auction company stated that this gemstone was purchased in August 2024 by an entrepreneur from Rio de Janeiro involved in the metallurgical industry, as well as a mineral collector and investor. Nearly a year later, he decided to auction this gemstone.

The auction is set to take place online on August 8, 2025, and bidders can view the physical item through the official website or schedule a visit to see it in person in Rio de Janeiro.

Currently, this emerald has not been cut or polished, preserving its natural state as found in the mine.

Another highly anticipated Brazilian emerald is the "Esmeralda Bahia," weighing close to 380 kilograms, which was illegally exported to the United States in the 2000s. According to information from the Attorney General's Office, the gemstone entered the United States through forged documents.

In 2017, two individuals involved in the case were convicted by the Federal Court of Campinas in São Paulo, and it was ruled that the emerald should be returned to Brazil. In November 2024, the extradition request was officially approved by a U.S. court, and the emerald was formally returned in January 2025.

This emerald, valued at up to 230 million reais, has now arrived in Brazil and will be permanently displayed at the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro.
