The Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP) raised over 844 million reais in concession funds through the bidding for exploration rights of 19 oil and gas field blocks in the Amazon River mouth basin region during the 5th bidding round held on June 17th.

According to Zhongjin's understanding, in the bidding activities on that day, a consortium composed of Petrobras and ExxonMobil Brasil successfully acquired 10 oil and gas field blocks in the Amazon River mouth basin, paying over 262 million reais for the exploration rights. Another consortium formed by CNPC Brasil and Chevron Brasil Óleo won 9 oil and gas field blocks, with a payment of 582 million reais.

"Permanent concession" is the primary oil and gas exploration and production rights bidding model in Brazil, allowing for the continuous offering of exploration blocks and marginal oil and gas fields in onshore or offshore oil and gas basins. This bidding round also covered the Pará-Maranhão Basin, the Pelotas Basin, and other strategic areas for oil and gas extraction, raising a total of 1.45 billion reais, far exceeding expectations. This auction set a historical record for national revenue under the permanent concession model and received approval from the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).

Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira stated that this outcome reflects the market's confidence in government policies. The auction attracted numerous companies from various countries and granted exploration and exploitation rights for 34 oil and gas field blocks. Minister Silveira emphasized the ability to bring oil resources to various parts of Brazil and highlighted the goal of focusing on social inclusion, environmental responsibility, and high-quality employment while achieving economic growth.
