Due to extreme adverse weather conditions, operations at major ports in northern Germany remain disrupted. DXT issued an alert on the 13th, with multiple port terminals reporting restricted operations, suspensions, or transportation disruptions. According to reports, on the early morning of January 12th, the Bremen-Hafen port halted operations, and although it resumed later in the day, operations slowed significantly. Eurogate terminal at the Port of Hamburg faced restrictions on waterside operations, and CTH terminal is expected to halt truck operations due to high utilization rates. Activity at the CTA terminal was very low, impacting ship, truck, and railway operations, while the CTT and CTB container terminals faced similar situations.

European multimodal transport is also facing severe challenges. Issues such as icy roads, railway obstructions, frozen switches, and uncleared snow are restricting the movement of goods. METRANS reported that 21 trains bound for Hamburg were canceled due to frozen traction lines. As of the early morning of January 13th, 26 trains within Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Austria were still suspended, but import services to Hamburg were gradually resuming. Train delays were reported at Bremen-Hafen port, and rail services at the Wilhelmshaven port were also affected. While operations at the RSC terminal in the Port of Rotterdam remained undisturbed, there were train delays. Snow accumulation in Gdansk hampered equipment operations, slowing down terminal activities.

It is expected that temperatures will rise in the third week, potentially easing operational pressures at German ports. However, European ports and logistics transport will require time to digest and recover from the impacts of this extreme weather event.
