Houthi rebels announced that Israeli warplanes carried out 12 airstrikes on the Yemeni western port city of Hodeidah under their control on September 16, bombing multiple berths and sparking large fires.

According to reports, the Israeli Defense Forces issued an "urgent" evacuation warning to the port of Hodeidah before the attack, stating that the assault would take place within the next few hours.

An Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson stated that due to the military activities of the Houthi rebels in the region, airstrikes would be carried out on the areas marked on the map and urged all personnel and vessels to evacuate immediately, warning of imminent danger to their lives.

Two sources at the port revealed that the targets of the attack were three piers that had been restored following previous Israeli strikes, with the assault lasting approximately 10 minutes.

The Israeli Defense Minister stated on social media that the Houthi organization would continue to be hit and warned that any attempt to attack Israel would come at a cost. He highlighted the strike on the Houthi military infrastructure in the port of Hodeidah, stating that the port was used to transfer weapons from Iran and as a response to Houthi attacks on Israel.

On the same day, the Houthi rebels issued a statement claiming to have launched attacks on the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv and the southern Red Sea port city of Eilat in response to the Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah.

According to Israeli media reports, since Israel resumed military operations in the Gaza Strip on March 18, the Houthi rebels have fired at least 85 ballistic missiles and 37 drones toward Israel. The Houthi rebels emphasized that the attacks on Israel would only cease if Israel stopped its aggression and blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Currently, the situation in the Red Sea region of the Middle East remains unstable, bringing high risks and uncertainties to the shipping market.
