The union of individual transporters of bulk goods in the three cities of Santos, Guarujá, and Cubatão in the state of São Paulo (Sindgran) has announced that the individual transporters of bulk goods in these cities will begin a 24-hour strike starting on March 25, with the strike commencing at 8 a.m. on that day.

The protest is planned to gather at the dispatch parking lot in Cubatão, with the aim of demanding that the payment of dispatch parking lot usage fees be considered a prerequisite for entering port operations.

Jose Cavalcani, also known as "Salgadinho," the union president, told the media that approximately 5000 truck drivers are expected to participate in this action. The union emphasizes that the protest will be conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner, without blocking public roads.

Cavalcani noted that over the past 20 days, the group has been attempting to negotiate with the port terminal operators involved in the fees, but no progress has been made. He believes that the costs of the dispatch parking lots should be borne by the ports rather than by the truck drivers. According to him, the cost of staying in these parking lots for 24 hours is around 800 reais, and sometimes the "high fees even make it difficult for drivers to afford the fuel costs for the return trip." He also mentioned that if this 24-hour strike does not yield results, they may consider extending the strike duration to 48 or 72 hours next week.
